President Yoon Seok-yeol's mother-in-law, Choi Eun-soon (77), was paroled and released from the Seoul Eastern Detention Center on the 14th.

Choi Eun-soon, President Yoon's mother-in-law, leaving the Seoul Eastern Detention Center.

Mr. Choi was sentenced to one year in prison by the Supreme Court in November last year on charges of forging a balance certificate to make it appear that a total of 34.9 billion won was deposited in a savings bank during the purchase of land in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do in 2013, and has been serving time in the Eastern Detention Center in Seoul since July of last year. It was in progress.

Mr. Choi was subject to parole review in February, but was judged 'unfit' and was excluded from the review in March, and received a decision to 'hold review' in the April review. Subsequently, the Parole Review Committee held on Buddha's Birthday on the 8th unanimously decided that Mr. Choi was eligible, and the next day, Justice Minister Park Seong-jae gave final permission for Mr. Choi's parole.

Mr. Choi's full release date is July 20th, and Mr. Choi has completed about 82% of his sentence and was released about two months earlier than the maturity date (July 20th).

Mr. Choi did not give any answers to reporters' questions such as 'What do you think about the self-parole controversy?', 'Don't you think this parole is a burden on the president?', and 'Do you still not admit the charges?' and got into the car waiting in front of the main gate. I got on and left the place.

‘People Protecting Yoon Seok-yeol’, a group of supporters of President Yoon, posted a sign across from the detention center with the slogan ‘President Eun-soon Choi, thank you for your hard work! They also hung a banner saying ‘Be healthy.’
