Incheon Port Throws Massive Beer and Chicken Party for 10,000 Foreign Tourists

Incheon, South Korea - Incheon City is gearing up for a massive party aimed at attracting international visitors. The "1883 Incheon McGang Party" will be held on the 25th at the Sangsang Platform outdoor plaza, offering free beer, fried chicken, and a variety of cultural experiences to over 10,000 foreign tourists.

This event marks the second edition of the McGang Party, named after the popular Korean pairing of fried chicken ("gangjeong") and beer ("maekju").  It commemorates 140 years since Incheon opened its doors to the world trade in 1883.

Attendees from over 10 countries, including China, the US, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Russia, can expect a taste of Incheon's unique offerings. The party will provide 10,000 cans of local beer, 6,000 free pieces of fried chicken, and gifts from nearby markets. In addition, 18 food trucks will be on-site to tantalize taste buds with a wider range of flavors.

Entertainment is aplenty, with live music performances by Incheon artists and groups, traditional Korean busking, taekwondo demonstrations, and lively pungmul (Korean percussion) groups.  A nighttime drone show promises a dazzling display in the sky.

For those interested in Korean culture, the event will feature exhibits showcasing open port history, classic cars, traditional medicine, wellness practices, and the art of Hanji (Korean paper).

This party builds upon the success of last year's MacGang Party, which attracted around 3,000 foreign tourists as the COVID-19 pandemic began to subside.

"We've designed a festival themed around the Jemulpo Club, a pivotal location in Incheon's port opening history," said Baek Hyun, President of the Incheon Tourism Organization. "The Sangsang Platform will play a leading role in attracting tourists to our city."
